Horner Downey and Company was founded by two friends, Paul Horner and Peter Downey, back in the early 1970s.

They rented a tiny office in Bromborough with an initial handful of clients between them. Their reputations as hard working, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced Chartered Accountants soon passed around from one client to others and these personal recommendations provided a steady influx of clients.

Although both members are no longer part of the practice, our current directors Paul Thomas and Mark Williams continue their legacy to this day but we like to acknowledge where we started.

Timeline

Horner Downey is formed.

Business growth meant that a further Chartered Accountant was required circa 1990 and that is when the current Managing Director, Paul Thomas, joined the practice.

Paul had trained in Chester, qualified with Horner Downey & Co. and has been happy to stay ever since.

Paul Horner retired in 1992 at the ripe old age of almost 50 and very sadly Peter Downey passed away in 1996.

Paul Thomas then required assistance and promoted Mark Williams from within the practice to become his Co-Director and part owner of the business.

Paul and Mark have converted the practice into a limited company and have continued to manage and grow the business steadily.

Many of the staff have been at the practice for as long as Paul and Mark and as such are as much part of the Horner Downey family.
